John Manning
John is an Associate Partner at Harvard Partners. John’s focus is Management Consulting for Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Operational Resilience. Prior to joining Harvard Partners, John was an independent consultant where he managed data center virtualizations, conducted Operational Resilience studies and wrote Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Continuity of Operation plans for several clients.
John held positions at Wellington Management Company, LLP, State Street Bank, The Boston Company and State Street Global Advisors. At Wellington Management, he directed the Disaster Recovery program globally, providing leadership, coordinating, assessing, developing and communicating technical environment recovery and contingency plans. At State Street Global Advisors John was Director of Disaster Recovery and the Information Technology PMO. Here he developed process and methodologies to support the increase in business from 450 billion dollars in assets under management to over 1.8 trillion dollars. While at State Street Bank and The Boston Company, John held various positions in Accounting, Global Securities Operations, Client Service, Mutual Fund Systems and Global Custody.
John earned his BS in management from Bentley College, a Project Management Certification from Boston University and is a Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP). He also earned a certification as a Certified Options Processor, from the Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE) and is also a member of the Gartner Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Advisory Group.

Charles Kling
Charles is an Associate Partner at Harvard Partners. He specializes in helping IT organizations assess, measure, improve, and implement end-user satisfaction programs and brings these skills to Harvard Partners’ Worker Mobility, Client Technology Services, and IT Governance programs. At Fidelity Investments and Thomson Reuters he identified and implemented tools, processes, projects and global organizational capabilities that delivered the support services demanded by high-end investment professionals.
Charles focuses on the customer experience by considering support services and technology tools from the perspective of the business end-user. He created and implemented a global support organizational model and business executive communication strategy during build out of 5 large overseas investment offices; large-scale desktop/PDA hardware refreshes; proprietary application suite support readiness, upgrade management and user training. In one problem situation he synthesized user experience data and drove enhancements with application development and infrastructure teams over a six-month period that led to a 40% improvement in desktop/laptop responsiveness.
As a production environment "champion" Charles has held leadership positions in Incident, Problem, Crisis and Change Management functions. He led a manual and automated software quality assurance group responsible for ensuring business and systems requirements had been achieved for 30 investment-decision applications. He has a proven ability to make enterprise-critical priority judgments amid competing stakeholder agendas in a fast-paced environment.
Charles has a BS in Systems Engineering from Boston University and an MBA from UMASS Boston.
