Case Study

Background

This firm was going through a dramatic global expansion requiring new and expanded office locations. Core business functions were spreading to other locations and new technologies such as high-definition video conferencing, Trading technologies (including market data services and turrets), and real-time collaboration were being requested. Management recognized an opportunity existed to explore new communications approaches.

What We Did

Business requirements were identified by working closely with business users, the real estate, administrative, telecommunications and data networking areas, and application developers. Network architecture options were developed and considered and RFPs were issued to major and incumbent vendors. The target environment was validated by the selected vendor, project and on-going costs were identified, and implementation was managed.

What We Achieved

A new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony system was implemented, including voice mail, with communications hubs in the US, UK and Australia. Travelling employees were able to “log into” communications services anywhere in the world.

Full replacement systems were implemented essentially for the cost of upgrading the older hardwired system. Voice communications circuits between offices were removed and call extension (toll avoidance) substantially reduced long-distance phone costs.

Installed high-definition video conferencing and outsourced teleconferencing services for improved external client and internal employee collaboration.

Implemented a new VoIP trading turret in Europe enabling real-time collaboration between US and European traders.
